The greatest thing about being back in the Kootenays is the access to amazing camping spots with little effort. Bannock Point served as our base camp for the weekend for a trip along Slocan Lake is my parents trusty 35 year old canoe. Love the Kootenays.
I thought I should post another photo of the spectacle of the sky on fire from Friday night. During the four hour event, rarely did any of us look away, afraid that it would be the last moment we had to experience the northern lights. Who knows when they will be back again.
On my first real camping trip of the year I was very lucky enough to see the northern lights just north of Kaslo, BC. The last time I saw them in the Kootenays was over 15 years ago but the show that I saw on Friday night was beyond anything I had ever seen before.
Just another evening in the Great Bear Rainforest. We anchored in a secluded cove, went out for an evening paddle, and then returned to the boat for a delicious dessert by everyones favourite person aboard, Gem our wonderful chef.
